Randy Glasgow: TTFA should follow PTSC’s lead and rehire Stephen Hart!

“Mr [Stephen] Hart, according to reports, is owed over TT$3,000,000 by the TTFA to cover the life of his contract. To bring in another coach, you will be paying Mr Hart and the new coach for the same period.

“The national community and the TTFA Executive know fully well that the TTFA doesn’t have that kind of resources.”

The following Letter to the Editor, which calls for the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association (TTFA) to revisit its decision to dismiss head coach Stephen Hart, was submitted by entertainment promoter Randy Glasgow:

The Board of Directors at PTSC, a couple days ago, fired their General Manager, Ronald Forde. The Honourable Minister [Rohan Sinanan] with responsibility for the corporation said it made better financial sense to bring him back to fulfil his contract, instead of having to pay another GM and the fired GM for same period.

Today, I make an appeal to TTFA President and his Executive to rehire fired National Head Coach, Stephen Hart for the same reason and thinking as [that shown by] the Honourable Minister of Works and Transport.

Mr Hart, according to reports, is owed over TT$3,000,000 by the TTFA to cover the life of his contract. To bring in another coach, you will be paying Mr Hart and the new coach for the same period.

The national community and the TTFA Executive know fully well that the TTFA doesn’t have that kind of resources. Further, a Good head coach don’t come cheap and come with no guarantees of winning.

The morale of the story is: TTFA stop fooling yourselves. Mr Hart’s salary of US$20,000 per month is the best deal in football. Anyone else with his pedigree would demand US$50,000 and up per month plus perks—upwards of US$65,000 per month.

My advice to TTFA [is] take the Honourable Minister of Works’ PTSC initiative [into account] and rehire Mr Hart now. Our country will understand and, more importantly, Mr Hart will do his very best to make Trinidad and Tobago play Great Again.

Bless,

#REHIRECOACHHARTNOW

  1. Who the hell is this dunce Kerron? Look nah, Shabazz pay yuh to come and talk this nonsense … you know nothing about football, so stay away from making idiotic remarks

  2. All yuh don’t talk about Barcelona and TT in the same conversation and blight my team tomorrow morning, eh! Don’t piss me off! I have been to four El Classico games can’t name this one because of….. but Barca all the way . Lasana , I so want to play MU but I digress

  3. A bunch of crap and emotions get foreign expertise story done

  4. Stephen hart is blaspheming against football and dragging TRINIDAD football thru the MUDD having kenwyne jones a glorified defender turned forward captaining our team the use fired Juergen klinsman who’s is ten thousand times a better coach for less time to bring back the Dutch coach who Leo left in charge he was the best coach since leo left

  5. They should fire him and retire kenwyne jones permanently

  6. I don’t have much faith in the team, but I have faith in Coach Hart . ……..BRING HIM BACK NOW!!!!!

  7. They too fucking ungrateful to fire this guy
He brought this team out of the dungeon and now they wanna let him go
They probably have one of their close friend ready to accept the position
Where is our president and prime minister
    Say something about this

  8. Well they still indebted to Latas so it seems like they going in circles. They need to make better financial decisions. Coach Hart make sure they find yuh $$$ and forget them oui. They certainly cannot afford any better right now unless someone willing to do charity. Where are we going.

  9. Bring him back…the problems exacerbated when David John Williams took the helm at the TTFA. Man knows as much about football administration as an elephant knows about taking bubble baths in a jacuzzi ???

  10. Yes I agree he is the best coach be have since 2006

  11. Sad to say but too many people always know what should be done but they themseves cant do it. Hart is the man who got us to the hex in the first and he did it with kenwyne as captain. My only problem with hart is that he does not seem to have enough faith in the local players like nethaniel garcia ,marcus joseph and winchester. Maybe he knows something i dont.

  12. well done TTFA….. Stephen Hart needed to go long time….. he knows nothing about football…. and he forces the team to play defensive and cowardly…… we have good attackers that need the encouragement to express themselves, not to man mark wingers….. also we need to get rid of Kenwyn Jones…. that shithong….. there are very talented footballers out there to make the team (if alyuh feel Levi bad, alyuh should see his bro Nathaniel Garcia)…..

    • He knows nothing about football? The same man before change in admin had the best record since 2006…..held Mexico twice and reached semis of the gold cup ….really?

    • Who tell you that you know so much about football that you can say Mr Hart knows nothing about football fooled you. Don’t try to make yourself look like a football genius when obviously your only intention is to bash and promote your favourite player. Keep it real you not ready

    • lol….. ok mr. Keith, lets analyse the second to last game, (cuz i didnt see the the last one)…. our strongest attacks came from our two wingers (joevin jones and the other guy) Costa rica changed there formation to counteract this by placing two men each to double team our wingers, early in the game. Mr. Hart waited till the 70 something minute to switch the left winger with levi. what would that do? obviously, costa rica would just double team levi also….. duhhhhhh……

    • if he had given the wingers the instructions not to defend, and only come as far back as the half line, then, they would have the advantage where counteracting the team is concerned, and costa rica would be forced to play deep because our wingers are not tracking back….. also if mr. hart encourages levi to express himself the way he knows to play, that youngster will definitely score….. twice….. when levi reaches down the flank, he is not to cross the ball, he is to cut inside and shoot, because he is equally talented with both feet.( i bet you didnt know he is really a right footed). finally, the reason why joevin jones plays so good, is because he does what he can do best and that is dribble, no matter what mr. hart tells him……we in trinidad need to stop acting like cowards and attack more, instead of going into a game to defend…..

    • we need a coach like Anthony Shearwood, who believes in the beauty of attack, riddim and flare, and entertainment….

    • Messi will look bad in a team where the mid fields timid and unfit and lacking in creativity like ours are. Football is a team sport where every player has his function. Our problem is poor service and lack of control of the middle of the field. To be simple, ” d midfield does bun” by 60 minutes so it must be backs and forwards, with the lone striker looking bad feeding off scraps. That cant beat nobody and the striker looks like a fool

    • Kerron you know nothing about football hush yuh tail.

  13. Who ever coaches our team will have to be subject to the dictates of our football association and will be drinking from a poisoned chalice. When you mix swellheaded players with pompous officials that toxic miss will result in a situation where fans will cringe to see the depths to which our football will decend. And a stadium full of fans who just come for the lime makes matters even worse

  14. “The morale of the story is: TTFA stop fooling yourselves. Mr Hart’s salary of US$20,000 per month is the best deal in football. Anyone else with his pedigree would demand US$50,000 and up per month plus perks—upwards of US$65,000 per month.”

But Randy, your suggestion is premised on the principle of responsible behaviour. I am not sure that behind closed TTFA doors, the discussion that’s taken place sought to answer this question: How long do we have before we have to pay him what we owe him?

Think of the several precedents (starting with the 2006 World cup team) and you will see why what you propose and God face…

  15. we not come together and be positive about what’s going on and stop fighting one another that’s the down in trinidad football smh big men jus complaining and fighting against each other it’s not helping the game in no way.Dont matter who in charge is the same thing I can go back to Jack time and is the same noise but no solutions come on man. John Williams have enough to pay Hart and the new coach on his own good for thought.

  16. In which lifetime? Anyone asked the coach if he wants to return with those morons at the helm?

  17. Lol! That and God face we will never see.

  18. Don’t understand this remark. Professional coaches everywhere can be dismissed without the usual contract buyout concern. To receive full payment, some form of doscrimation would have to be described.

And the PTSC head was not fired.

    • What would give you that idea? A contract for a football coach is just as solid as a contract in any other profession. Of course they have to pay it in full. They are not obliged to pay it all right away and can simply go on making monthly payments for the duration of the contract, so both parties sometimes agree on a lumpsum upfront that suits both sides.
But I don’t know why you would think that a football coach’s contract can be ignored.

  19. I am not sure that anyone outside of TTFA’s inner circle has any true idea as to its financial resources. This has been a perennial problem with the Governance of local football, yet somehow over the years top officials appear to live high off the hog and apparently have fairy god fathers or mothers, who assist in funding of expensive ELECTION campaigns in the REGIONAL and INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL ARENA. The bottom line is NOTHING WILL CHANGE unless and until the FOOTBALLING fraternity decides to seize the initiative and ACT, instead of toeing the line in the hope of handouts.

    • “NOTHING WILL CHANGE unless and until the FOOTBALLING fraternity decides to seize the initiative and ACT, instead of toeing the line in the hope of handouts”

Yup! Right on the ball. But, Laurence, don’t hold your breath; Hell has a good chance of freezing over before that process even starts…

  20. Well it seems like he is frighten to choose a local Coach eh because the players might just rebel again and the leaders will be Jan and the Captain Jones eh. Them really good yes.

  21. Most people don’t know this story but the first coach that T&T signed to replace Bertille St Clair was Ron Atkinson. And the players, led by Dwight Yorke and Shaka Hislop, refused to accept that appointment. So Jack Warner backtracked.
You think David John-Williams will give his players a say and be as humble as Jack was in that instance? That is how we got Beenhakker.

  22. Im sure when TTFa fired bertille and hire beenhakar, it would have been costly as well….and WE as a country Celebrated our National Team when they Qualified !!!

  23. Absolutely correct, who is the TTFA trying to fool? Where is the TTFA going to get the money to pay for a new coach? John Williams do as Randy Glasgow suggested and rehire Stephen Hart.PS (it’s not to late).

  24. I think the biggest joke is that we thought getting rid of Tim Kee was definitely going to lead to improvements. How? How on earth is it possible to be worse than Tim Kee???

  25. Ok ah tired of keeping Alyuh in suspense eh so here it is… Proof Stuart Charles Fevrier, and his two assistants Proof Jamaal Shabazz and Russell “The Magician Latapy will continue to take us thru the HEX eh. and Congratulations……….BOOM.

  26. Mr. Williams is the biggest joke that rode into town. But guess what the board vote him in so they will eat the bread this devil kneed. Smh

  27. Lasana Liburd a petition need to be organized bring back hart asap

  28. it will never happen…..DJW will try a working out agreement but we all it eh go…

  29. DJW ain’t doing that and any loans the TTFA take from whichever source, we should all be privy to the paperwork…

  30. David Gintoki Aguillera, what you think?

  31. watch nah… we have to make a distinction between funny and jokey:
    A standup comedian is “Funny”
The TTFA [mis]management of national football is “jokey”
but yuh see this isht? this isht ain eem funny

  32. I honestly loved him as TT coach n really disappointed

  33. He was very lenient about being paid n they fire him smh

  34. Well said,David John Williams should fire himself
