Jack: Suffer the children

School children have a lot in their book bags these days including wildly fluctuating academic assessment plans and enough books to fill a library.

It might get worse though after National Security Minister Jack Warner suggested that a good cut-tail for little Jason and Natasha is just what Trinidad and Tobago needs to curb illegal activity—rather than, for example, arresting criminals instead of offering them Government jobs or shielding them from extradition and police investigation.

Warner explained, at a Police Service function yesterday, that there is no accountability in schools without corporal punishment. And Wired868 concedes that your day has not started properly until you have digested a lecture on accountability from the former FIFA Vice-President.

Incidentally, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar was Education Minister when corporal punishment was abolished. But Warner is not known for letting facts get in the way of a good soundbyte.

Wired868 was unreliably informed that school children would accept the reintroduction of corporal punishment on the grounds that the minimum voting age is changed from 18 to six-years-old.
